Cooks + Books: Nurturing Children's Literature and Cooking
The State Library is excited to bring you a virtual demonstration program of Cooks + Books from Sticky Fingers Cooking on Thursday, April 8, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. This train-the-trainer model will show attendees how to hold a virtual program involving a chapter book and recipe preparation. Let your favorite books come to life in the kitchen! In our Cooks + Books series, we’ll read our favorite books and cook up recipes inspired by the story within.

The South Carolina State Library’s digital collections contain rare primary research materials such as Our Heroes: Patriotic Poems on Men, Women and Sayings of the Negro Race. This book of poetry focuses on influential African American men and women in the late 1800s written by George C. Rowe, an African American minister, newspaper publisher, and poet in Charleston, South Carolina.

January 2021 New State Documents
The South Carolina Digital State Documents Depository provides access to state agencies' publications. These publications provide citizens with crucial information about state government, including statistics, annual accountability reports, and data on a wide variety of topics related to the state. A Message From Agency Director Leesa Aiken
When our state was forced into a shutdown because of the COVID pandemic, South Carolina's public libraries' work did not stop. Libraries quickly transitioned to meet the immediate and emerging needs of their communities. I am dedicating this space to their creative, thoughtful work.
Libraries are part of the vital social infrastructure of a community. They are the place where people in crisis go to get support. Libraries provide access to information and resources from the mundane to life or death.
