Using documents from the South Carolina State Documents Depository’s Digital Collections, educators can engage their students in thoughtful activities, including George Washington’s travels through South Carolina in 1791, a look back at the celebration of the American Revolution Bicentennial, a comparison between South Carolina’s three earliest state constitutions, and a shocking proposal between South Carolina and Georgia. Activities are geared towards grades 3-12.

Revolutionary Art: A Depiction of the American Revolution in South Carolina
A gallery of 13 works of art depicting important battles and scenes of the American Revolution in South Carolina. These paintings are reproductions of original works that are permanently displayed throughout the South Carolina State House and will be on view in the State Library through December 31, 2026.
SC250 Palmetto Display
This year, the South Carolina State Library partnered with the South Carolina Relic Room and Military Museum for Revolutionary War Day, which highlights South Carolina’s rich Revolutionary War history and the many battles fought here, including Ninety Six, Sullivan’s Island, Camden, Kings Mountain, and Cowpens.
