Celebrate November as National Native American Heritage Month with the South Carolina State Library!

South Carolina owes much of its history and culture to the Native American first peoples who made this land their home. By the American Revolution, at least 29 distinct native groups consolidated into four nations and many locations and landmarks across the state honor their names. Active tribes, such as the Catawba and Pee Dee, continue to work together to preserve their special place in the life of the state.

The "Science of Reading" is a vast, interdisciplinary body of scientifically based research about reading from the fields of education, developmental psychology, and neuroscience, that explains how individuals learn how to read and best practices for reading instruction.

The South Carolina Interagency Council on Homelessness (formerly South Carolina Coalition for the Homeless) is a statewide network of advocates, service providers, and funders committed to ending homelessness since 2003.
