The South Carolina Emergency Management Division (SCEMD), a division of the Office of the Adjutant General, leads the state's emergency management program by supporting local authorities in minimizing loss of life and property from all-hazard events.

As winter weather continues to impact the Palmetto State, all South Carolinians must be prepared to protect themselves and their property from hazardous weather. The South Carolina Winter Weather: Cold Weather Hazards in South Carolina: Your Winter Prep Checklist is a resource guide produced by SCEMD to provide the public with the information they need this winter. Some topics discussed in this guide include winter weather terms, power and heating safety tips, and how to protect people and property before, during, and after a winter storm.

The complete list of January electronic South Carolina state publications is now available. The South Carolina Digital State Documents Depository provides electronic access to state agency publications. These publications provide citizens with crucial information about the state government, including statistics, reports, and data on a wide variety of topics related to the state.

Author Patricia Brandon and "Rise of the Pale Moon"

May 7, 2026, 5:30 PM

Join us at the next installment of the Speaker at the Center with Author Patricia Brandon where she will discuss her historical fiction novel, "Rise of the Pale Moon." Set against the backdrop of the Revolutionary War era in coastal South Carolina, Rise of the Pale Moon weaves a compelling tale of three young women from distinct backgrounds: an indentured servant from London, a chattel slave raised on the Montague Hall plantation, and a Catawba Indian captured by the Cherokee and traded into slavery.
