New June Electronic State Publications

Clemson University was founded in 1889 through a bequest from Thomas Green Clemson, a Philadelphia-born, European-educated engineer, musician and artist who married John C. Calhoun’s daughter, Anna Maria, and eventually settled at her family plantation, Fort Hill, in South Carolina.

The South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (SCDES) is a South Carolina state cabinet agency established by state law on July 1, 2024, with specific roles and responsibilities for overseeing the protection and preservation of South Carolina’s environment and natural resources.

Please join us for our next Speaker at the Center talk with the authors of South Carolina's Matilda Evans: A Medical Pioneer, Dr. Walter B. Curry, Jr., Beverly Aiken Muhammad, and Anusha Ghosh on Thursday, August 26 at 3:00 PM at the State Library. South Carolina Matilda Evans: A Medical Pioneer is the official biography of Dr. Matilda Evans, the first African American woman licensed to practice medicine in South Carolina.
