The South Carolina Department of Public Health (DPH) was created by the State Legislature with the DHEC Restructuring Act of 2023. The mission of DPH is to protect, promote, and improve the health and well-being of everyone in South Carolina.
As South Carolinians prepare for the return of warmer weather, it’s important that age-appropriate playtime and exercise are part of children’s daily routine. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, it is recommended that infants and children engage in physical activity daily. Physical activity is needed for children to grow healthy and develop properly. Make Time for Play Time! is a guide produced by the South Carolina Department of Public Health to give parents and caregivers ideas to keep their children physically active. With recommended activities and toys for children from birth to age 10, this guide is available in both English and Spanish.
