Sign Up for a Library Card!

September is Library Card Sign-Up Month! This month is recognized nationwide to encourage individuals to sign up for library cards, promoting academic achievement and lifelong learning.

What better way of celebrating than signing up for a library card! At the South Carolina State Library, SC residents age 18 and over are eligible to apply for a free library card and may borrow circulating materials from our collections and access our electronic resources.

The State Library offers two ways to access our services:

  • Physical cards which provide access to all physical and digital resources, and; 
  • E-cards which grant instant access to all digital services and materials.

Join us at the next installment of the Speaker at the Center with Author Patricia Brandon where she will discuss her historical fiction novel, "Rise of the Pale Moon." Set against the backdrop of the Revolutionary War era in coastal South Carolina, Rise of the Pale Moon weaves a compelling tale of three young women from distinct backgrounds: an indentured servant from London, a chattel slave raised on the Montague Hall plantation, and a Catawba Indian captured by the Cherokee and traded into slavery.
