New science resources available

We are pleased to announce the addition of McGraw-Hill’s AccessScience to the Discus collection of online resources, which are available to state employees from home or office with a State Library card number.   The premier source in AccessScience is the 10th edition of the McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia of Science & Technology, but the content also includes research updates, dictionary definitions, biographies, news articles and multimedia.  The fully searchable media-rich content is continuously updated, so the database always delivers the most current information to users.  Contributing to the authoritative content in AccessScience are 36 Nobel Prize winners, as well as many other experts in the fields of science and technology.

State employees also have online access to two premier science journals through Collegiate Discus: Nature—the International Weekly Journal of Science is available from the most recent issue back to 1993.

Science Online is the online version of Science, the world's leading journal of original scientific research, global news, and commentary.  Issues are available from the most recent back to 1997.

Additional science resources may be found in the Science & Technology section of the State Library’s Online Resources page.

Contact the Information Desk at (803) 734-8026 or use our Ask a Librarian chat service if you have any questions about these new resources.
