The School of Medicine Library announces its third digital collection, the History of the USC School of Medicine Columbia. This collection includes early photographs of faculty, staff and students, all commencement programs through 2014, a scrapbook of press cuttings, and documents which relate to the founding of the School of Medicine.

With funding from the National Network of Libraries of Medicine Southeastern/Atlantic Region, Christine Whitaker, PI, and Felicia Yeh, Co-PI, from the School of Medicine Library collaborated with Ashley Knox, Co-PI of the University Libraries Digital Collections Department in the production of this collection. Carol Smith, retired School of Medicine Public Information Director, provided invaluable help in identifying people, places and things in the collection.

The School of Medicine Library’s Digital Collections are part of the South Carolina Digital Library initiative which provides free access to historic materials, such as photographs, manuscripts, journals, books, oral histories, objects, etc. illustrating the history and culture of South Carolina from over 40 cultural heritage institutions across the state.
