Florence County Library Rolls into the Future

Florence Library Director Alan Smith, State Library Director Leesa Aiken, and children's author Will Hillenbrand in front of the new bookmobile.

The Florence Count Library found a unique way to spend Library Outreach Day during National Library Week. State Library Director Leesa Aiken joined Florence County Library Director Alan Smith in welcoming children’s author Will Hillenbrand to help cut the ribbon on its new Children’s Bookmobile. Hillenbrand’s artwork appears on the bookmobile's exterior. The new state-of-the-art bookmobile includes wireless connectivity, a retractable awning for rainy weather, and a wheelchair lift to ensure greater accessibility. Support for this project was made possible with American Rescue Plan Act funds by a Library Services and Technology Act grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, administered by the South Carolina State Library.
