Artist and Illustrator Elaine Hearn Rabon to Visit Laurens

On Thursday, March 29, 2012, at 6 PM, visitors to the Laurens County Library will be able to meet Artist Elaine Hearn Rabon. This is part of the Library's S.M.A.R.T.* (*Super Motivating Activity-Reading Time) program, which provides programs for children and families during evening hours at the library.

Ms. Rabon is the illustrator of children's books. She will talk about how she creates the illustrations and where she gets her inspiration. She will encourage young artists to pursue their passion for art and drawing.

From Athens, Georgia, Ms Rabon has illustrated a number of children's picture books, two of them, Tim and Sally's Beach Adventures and Tim and Sally's Year in Poems are in the collection of the Laurens County Public Library System and are available for checkout at both the Laurens County Library and the Clinton Public Library.

The Laurens Library hopes to see many parents and children attending this program. Whether you have a budding artist at home, or are just interested in how picture books are born, this will be an interesting and inspirational program.

This program is FREE and open to the public. For more information, contact the Laurens County Library, 1017 West Main, Laurens, SC. 29360, 864-681-READ, www.lcpl.org.
