JOB TITLE: Processing Archivist, Grade 23
LOCATION: Collection Management, Headquarters

SALARY: $ $41,310 per year (Includes excellent benefits package)
HOURS: 40 hours per week
(Note: Must be flexible to accommodate schedule changes may be asked to work other times as needed).
EDUCATION: Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-Accredited library school with concentration in Archives. Must complete pre-employment testing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Process and describe a wide variety of archival materials, including photographs, architectural drawings and born digital
• Perform preservation and conservation on existing and incoming collections
• Create and edit finding aids for archival collections in ArchivesSpace according to professional and local archival practices
• Perform scanning of archival materials in various formats according to established archival protocols and file naming schema
• Create item level metadata according to South Carolina Digital Library standards and prepare files for uploading into content management system
• Meet with potential donors and promote archival and digital collections through community outreach
• Perform related tasks as required
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
• Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-Accredited library school with concentration in Archives
• Thorough knowledge of professional archives management practices and standards
• Experience with preservation and conservation methods for paper, hardware and software, and ability to research best practices
• Experience using archival content management systems including ArchivesSpace and ContentDM
• Knowledge of archival description standards including DACS, EAD and RDA, controlled vocabularies including LOC subject headings and Getty vocabularies, and metadata standards
• Excellent attention to detail, ability to communicate in writing and orally and ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with colleagues
• Must be in possession of valid driver’s license and be able to operate a vehicle independently
