Social Support to Families: Church and Community Together

From 1979 to 1980, the Children and Family Services Division of the South Carolina Department of Social Services implemented a grant program for the prevention and treatment of child abuse and neglect. SCDSS recognized the need for the community, specifically churches, to establish more visible social support networks to families in stress, especially those experiencing the problem of children abuse and neglect.
