Libraries in South Partner with GPO to Preserve Government Information

Four libraries in the South have entered into agreements with GPO to become Preservation Stewards, and one library has expanded its collection.

To help libraries meet the needs of efficient Government document stewardship in the digital era, GPO has  established Preservation Stewards to support continued public access to U.S. Government documents in print format. These libraries contribute significantly to the effort to preserve printed documents. Through the agreement, many libraries also serve as digital access partners, providing digital access to Government information. More than 60 libraries currently serve as Preservation Stewards across the United States.

South Carolina State Library

  • Current and historic publications, including Agricultural Statistics and Congressional Directory

Augusta University, Reese Library

  • Current and historic publications, including House Documents and House Reports

Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LSU Library

  • Current and historic publications, including Rural Housing Service Publications and the Congressional Serial Set

Loyola University New Orleans College of Law

  • Current and historic publications, including Opinions of the Office of Legal Counsel of the United States Department of Justice and Reports of the United States Tax Court

University of Memphis, Ned R. McWherter Library

  • Added a number of current and historic publications, including House and Senate Journals, to their existing Preservation Steward collection

Speaker at the Center: Silversmith Kaminer Haislip, "Charleston Silver, Past to Present"

Join us at the next installment of the Speaker at the Center series with Charleston silversmith Kaminer Haislip. Haislip's rice spoon was recently added to the Charleston Museum's collection and she has received a grant from SC Humanities to study silver techniques abroad. Kaminer will present a lecture titled Charleston Silver, Past to Present on the history of colonial Charleston silversmithing and how it relates to her contemporary silver designs.
