When natural or man-made emergencies or disasters strike in South Carolina, who is there to respond? The SC State Guard (SCSG) is the State’s authorized and funded militia. The over 900 volunteer members of the SCSG include both retired and former military personnel and non-prior military service personnel, select professionals with specialized skills, and community leaders. The mission of the State Guard is to quickly respond to protect people and property and to help communities recover. Learning more about the SCGS through this useful brochure makes South Carolina State Guard, Trained & Ready our September 2023 featured publication. The brochure provides information about the structure of the State Guard, and directs readers on how to join the guard or support its mission.

These publications provide citizens with crucial information about state government, including statistics, reports, and data on a wide variety of topics related to the state.
