Created in 1986, the South Carolina State Climatology Office at the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources archives and distributes climatological data to state agencies, educational and research institutions, and private citizens.

During 2026, South Carolinians experienced drought throughout the state, but the report Keystone Drought Events in South Carolina reveals that this is not the state’s first drought. In the March 2026 report, the State Climatology Office details significant drought events in the Palmetto State since 1900 and explores how these extreme weather events affected the people, agriculture, and economy of South Carolina.

The complete list of electronic South Carolina state publications for June is now available. The South Carolina Digital State Documents Depository provides electronic access to state agency publications. These publications provide citizens with crucial information about the state government, including statistics, reports, and data on a wide range of topics.
