State Library to Offer Free Census Research Workshop

The South Carolina State Library will offer a free workshop titled Census Data Updates: New Tools and Data Releases. The workshop will highlight features of the U.S. Census Bureau's websites for Census 2010 and American FactFinder.

When: Tuesday, May 21 from 10:00 a.m. -- 1:00 p.m.
Where: 1500 Senate Street, Columbia.

The presenter will be Kelly Karres, Data Dissemination Specialist with the United States Census Bureau.

American FactFinder is a portal for both quick facts and complex topics including geography, race, ethnic groups, industry codes and EEO occupation codes. Information is available for both large and small geographic units. American FactFinder uses both the past two centennial censuses and community surveys that are conducted more frequently and continuously to provide representational updates. The presenter will take attendees through the new American FactFinder interface and explain unique data tools.
