Introducing SC250

In 2026, South Carolina will mark 250 years since the events that helped shape its role in the founding of the United States. Known as South Carolina 250 (SC250), this statewide commemoration highlights the people, places, and ideas connected to South Carolina’s past—from colonial settlement through the Revolutionary era and beyond.

This display serves as an introduction to a year-long series highlighting items from the library’s rare and special collections. Future exhibits will showcase books and materials that reflect South Carolina’s complex history and the ways it has been recorded and remembered.
