The South Carolina State Library, in partnership with the South Carolina American Revolution Sestercentennial Commission (SC250), produced a children’s activity booklet titled South Carolina’s Guide to the American Revolutionary War. This booklet provides a fun and educational way for young learners to explore South Carolina’s Revolutionary War history.

This free educational booklet will engage children and families through games, puzzles, and coloring pages that highlight our state’s rich history. Designed for elementary-aged children, the booklet introduces important figures, places, and events that shaped South Carolina during its fight for independence. Copies are available at the State Library, at our outreach events, or by downloading the booklet below.

Author Patricia Brandon and "Rise of the Pale Moon"

May 7, 2026, 5:30 PM

Join us at the next installment of the Speaker at the Center with Author Patricia Brandon where she will discuss her historical fiction novel, "Rise of the Pale Moon." Set against the backdrop of the Revolutionary War era in coastal South Carolina, Rise of the Pale Moon weaves a compelling tale of three young women from distinct backgrounds: an indentured servant from London, a chattel slave raised on the Montague Hall plantation, and a Catawba Indian captured by the Cherokee and traded into slavery.
