New Director Named for York County Library

The York County Library Board of Trustees has announced that Colleen Carney has been hired as the new Director for the York County Library system to replace David Lyon, who is retiring.  She begins her new position on March 5.

Director of the Berkeley County Library in Moncks Corner, SC since 1996,  Ms. Carney also serves as president of the Association of Public Library Administrators in South Carolina (APLA) and has 32 years of experience in the library field.

Ms. Carney is originally from Ohio and received a Bachelor’s degree in History and a Master’s degree in Library Science from Kent State University.  She also has a Master’s degree in Adult and Community Education from Ball State University in Indiana.
 
The York County Library system has a budget of $4.3 million, with a headquarters library in Rock Hill, branch libraries in Fort Mill, Clover, Lake Wylie and York, and a bookmobile. For more information, visit www.yclibrary.org or call 803-981-5831.
