Provides professional assistance to library customers of all ages throughout the County who have research and technology needs at all levels of complexity on a multitude of subjects. Provides direct assistance to customers and performs circulation duties as necessary.
Duties for this Position
- Provides research assistance to customers system wide, in person, over the phone, via email, and on social media
- Maintains and contributes appropriate content for Library social media accounts as assigned
- Performs circulation tasks as needed
- Assists customers on branch computers and on personal devices brought to the library
- Excellent knowledge and effective use of technology and digital resources
- Provides instruction for customers in technology and digital tools
- Plans ahead to offer classes and events focused on Adult and Family interests
- Serves as a liaison with community groups as needed
- Trains library staff to use technology and digital resources
- Acts as manager in the Branch Librarian’s absence
- Assists with Collection Development and curation
- Serves as the second call, as needed, to answer the Alarm Company for building security
- Performs other duties as required
Salary Range: $40,331
Masters’ Degree in Library Science supplemented by one year of reference or public service experience in a public library, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Applicants who have enrolled in an ALA accredited MLS degree program, and have completed or enrolled in at least half of the classes necessary to complete the degree, will be considered so long as they have at least one year of public library employment

Must be physically able to operate a variety of machines and office equipment
Must be able to pass required pre-employment physical and background check
