The library will provide a list of jazz resources, a display inside the Main Library, a Jazz Poetry contest, two documentary showings and a jazz concert. All programs are free, take place in the Main Meeting Room at Main, and open to the public.
Documentary: A Great Day in Harlem - Friday, May 4th @ 6:30pm
This is the story of a 1958 black and white group portrait of 57 notable jazz musicians photographed on a street in Harlem, New York City. Never before have so many jazz legends been in one place together.
Jazz Poetry Contest - Entries due May 7th
We invite anyone 17 and older to write one or two jazz poems. The winner receives a $25 dollar gift card to Olive Garden and a jazz DVD. Entry forms can be found at any library location.

Dr. Thursby of the University of South Carolina - Sumter will discuss the history of jazz.
Jazz Concert with the Dr. Dick Goodwin Duo - Friday, May 18th @ 6:30pm
Distinguished Professor Emeritus Dr. Goodwin of the University of South Carolina - Columbia will break out his trumpet for a lively jazz concert for all to enjoy.
