Third Annual Braille Challenge to be Held at State Library

The third annual Braille Challenge to be held in South Carolina will take place at the State Library's Talking Book Services Library on February 3, 2011. Applications are due by December 13, 2010.

Organized by the Braille Institute, the Braille Challenge is an academic competition designed to motivate blind students to emphasize their study of Braille. The competition is open to 1st -12th grade students. Students are welcome to bring their own equipment for the contest. Lunch will be provided by Chick-Fil-A and prizes will be awarded.

The South Carolina Regional Braille Challenge current sponsors are: All American Awards, American Council of the Blind - Charleston Chapter, Charleston County Schools, HumanWare, Inc., National Braille Press, Quintex of Ashville , SC Association for Education & Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired, SC Commission for the Blind, SC Department of Education, SC School for the Deaf and the Blind, SC State Library - Talking Book Services, Seedlings Braille Books, University of SC -- Upstate.
