SC Student Artwork featured in National Calendar

Each year, the American Printing House for the Blind (APH) sponsors the APH InSights Art Competition and Exhibition, a contest for visually impaired and blind artists of all ages.

This project reflects APH's mission to "promote the independence of blind persons" by encouraging individuals to create original art.

The artwork featured in the 2009 APH Braille/large print calendar was selected from the hundreds of entries.  Fall Trees, by Sierra Singleton, was selected for inclusion in the 2009 calendar.  Singleton is a student from the Multihandicapped School of the South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind located in Spartanburg.  Fall Trees is currently on display at the South Carolina State Library's Talking Book Services art gallery located at 1430 Senate Street in Columbia.  The gallery is open to the public Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm.
