Two Art Collections on Display at Wofford College

Teszler Collection of Hungarian Paintings
November 4 -- December 20, 2011
Sandor Teszler Library Gallery
In the late nineteenth century a number of Hungarian artists left their homeland for study in Western Europe, particularly France. Returning home they continued to create works which reflected the influences and techniques learned in the West, but with a distinctive Hungarian subject matter and presentation. In 1991 the late Sandor Teszler presented to Wofford College his collection of Hungarian paintings from this period. Since the receipt of the original collection, it has been enhanced by continuing gifts by the Robicsek family.

Paintings by Amy Horton
2011 winner of the Thomas Daniel Whetsell Memorial Fellowship for the Visual Arts
November 4 - December 15, 2011
Reception: Friday, Nov. 4, 4:30 -- 6:30 p.m.
Martha Chapman Gallery, Campus Life Building
The Whetsell Fellowship enables a Wofford student to study in the summer some aspect of the visual arts, with the study leading to an exhibition on the campus school year. The 2011 Whetsell Fellow, Amy Horton, spent the summer working with Spartanburg artist Isabel Forbes developing her skill in oils. The subject matter generally derives from Ms. Horton's study abroad in Spain during the spring semester of 2011. The exhibition will include several phases of the work leading to the final results.
