The South Carolina State Library is proud to announce that Jason Broughton has recently completed the Business and Employer Services Certification Program. The program, coordinated by the SC Department of Employment and Workforce, is an in-depth professional education program that promotes the delivery of consistent, comprehensive, and high-quality services to businesses. The certification program includes the nationally recognized curriculum from Dynamic Works Institute as well as practice activities, workplace applications and individualized instruction and assistance. The topics in the curriculum include Business Communications, Customized Services, Development of Business Relationships, Human Resources Services, Information Services, Job or Career Development Skills, and Knowledge of Economic Development.
Upon completion of this program, participants not only achieve professional certification but also experience increased confidence and skill in identifying and serving the needs of the business community customers.
Broughton coordinates the State Library's Workforce Development Program, WorkSC.org. WorkSC.org is a comprehensive job seeker & workforce skill building resource for South Carolina's libraries, government agencies, and citizens. Users of WorkSC.org can learn how to create an online email account, learn how to use Microsoft Word to write a resume, find online job training tutorials and links to training opportunities hosted at local libraries, find links to SC-specific and national job listing sites along with tips for job searching, finding resources for starting a business, and learning tips for thriving in the workplace.
The site, initially created with libraries and first-time job seekers in mind, offers many useful links for the beginning as well as seasoned job seeker.
