The SC Forestry Commission created the Wood Magic Forest Fair Educator's Guide as a supplement to the Wood Magic Forest Fair, a free, fun, forestry-fact-filled field trip and festival for South Carolina fourth-graders. Now in its 24th year, this event is the South Carolina forestry community's signature educational event whose purpose is to provide information to students and their teachers about the sustainable management of forest resources in our state and the role of forests and forest products in their daily lives. This Educational Guide was prepared to help educators with post-visit follow-up with several activities that teachers can do with their students, including the "Blowing Bubbles through Solid Wood," "Living with Fire," and "A Tree's Dream" lessons. These activities are related to ecology, sustainable forest management, stewardship, and green careers.  The educational value of this publication makes it our choice for the April 2024 featured state publication.

The complete list of April electronic South Carolina state publications is available. The South Carolina Digital State Documents Depository provides electronic access to state agency publications. These publications provide citizens with crucial information about state government and include statistics, reports, and data on a wide variety of topics related to the state.
