When the Greenwood Literacy Council closed its doors in spring 2011, adult literacy and ESL students lost a major resource. The Greenwood County Library began offering Adult Literacy Services in February 2012. Coordinated by Lois Strauss, the program currently has 30 students (7 literacy; 23 ESL) and 14 volunteers. The Library's program collaborates with two ESL programs sponsored by local churches as well as Adult Basic Education classes offered by Greenwood School District 50.
