The College of Charleston Libraries is seeking a part-time, temporary library assistant for their Collection and Content Services department, working in several functional areas including cataloging, collection development, and subscription-based resources. The Collection and Content Services Assistant will work with librarians on a variety of projects including book receiving and processing, serials processing, serials maintenance, and collection maintenance. This position on average will work 25 hours/week (no evening or weekend hours) and would be an ideal opportunity for a library school student or someone interested (or experienced) in technical services library work as it will provide a well-rounded work experience under the direct supervision of seasoned and collegial librarians.
Required Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
Proven experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
Ability to plan, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Strong attention to detail.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a library.
Experience working in library technical services.
Experience working in the Alma Library Services Platform.
Experience using Zoom, Zoom chat, and/or Slack.
