SALARY: $39,885.07 Annually
POSITION OVERVIEW: This position is located at the Headquarters Library Technical Services and acts as primary assistant to the technical services manager; may regularly act as Person-in-Charge in absence of department manager. Responsible for overseeing the general workflow of the department’s acquisitions and processing duties, tracking outstanding orders, and supervising, scheduling & training all Administrative Support Specialists in the department.
Maintains accurate financial records
Copies and edits catalog records for the Integrated Library System (ILS)
Supervises adult and juvenile paperback standing orders as well as direct orders and cancellations
Tracks grant funds for the collection development section
Oversees and coordinates the department’s daily workflow; ensuring materials are received, invoiced, paid, processed and distributed in a timely manner
CONDITIONS: Selected applicant must have access to transportation and a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record at the time of hire. Within 60 days of hire, must obtain and show proof of a valid NC Driver’s License and must maintain an acceptable driving record while employed; background check with local law enforcement agency required; and must submit to a drug-screening test and receive a negative result for the use of drugs specified in the county policy. Refusal to submit to testing or a confirmed positive test shall be basis for withdrawal of the conditional employment offer.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in library science is required.
Trainee applicants must have completed at least 75% of required course work towards an MLS and submit a letter from the Dean of the Library School that states the number of credit hours already obtained and that the candidate can complete all Master’s degree requirements within 12 months.
Knowledge of Evergreen ILS preferred. Supervisory experience preferred.
