The Legislative Process in South Carolina: A Citizen’s Guide

Due to the scale and media coverage surrounding the federal government activity, the legislative efforts at the state level are often given less attention. Yet, despite less fanfare, it is likely that state and local government actions affect more of the state’s citizens on a daily basis. The system works best when citizens are well-informed about both the issues at hand the and the decision-making process. This guide is intended to provide a guide to South Carolina’s legislative process so that citizens are equipped with the structural basics that affect policy development.
