Overview:
• Under the direction of Library Administration and Technical Services Manager, curate a dynamic and diverse collection of print materials for all ages and genres, ensuring selections align with the library’s strategic goals and community interests.
• Coordinate with Technical Services Manager to strategically manage materials expenditures across various funding sources, explore cost-saving solutions to maximize budget efficiency while maintaining a diverse and high-quality collection.
• Provide training, guidance, and continuous support to materials selectors at each branch, helping them develop expertise and confidence in selecting materials.
• Actively engage with branches through routine visits to assess, maintain, and enhance collections, ensuring they are up-to-date, relevant and accessible to meet community needs.
• Co-host engaging collection development meetings with the Digital Resources Librarian fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing among selectors.
• Oversee the annual review of periodical subscriptions, working closely with department and branch staff to refine selections.
• Support inventory management and weeding projects to maintain a well-curated and organized collection.
• Develop and implement measures to evaluate the effectiveness of library materials by analyzing statistical data, anticipating material demand, and ensure timely ordering to drive continuous improvement.
• Integrate into the Technical Services workflow to understand the department’s role in the Library operations and enhance collaboration
• Align collection strategies with the library’s strategic plan and staying informed about industry trends and best practices.
• Participate with Library Administration in responding to reconsideration requests, following the guidelines outlined in the Request for Reconsideration policy.
• Create engaging promotional materials and curated book lists to showcase exciting new additions and special collections, encouraging patron discovery and engagement.
Requires Masters of Library and Information Science and over two years and up to and including four years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
