Revolutionary Art: A Depiction of the American Revolution in South Carolina is a gallery of 13 works of art depicting important battles and scenes of the American Revolution in South Carolina. Several important military officers and statesmen who served South Carolina during the Revolution are also represented. These paintings are reproductions of original works that are permanently displayed throughout the South Carolina State House. These paintings bring history to life by depicting significant moments from the Revolutionary War in the Palmetto State. Each painting is accompanied by a selection of biographies and histories from the South Carolina State Library’s collections to provide additional context for the paintings’ themes. The gallery will be available for viewing at the South Carolina State Library until December 31.
