Walking by Faith - Swaddled In His Glory by Evangelist Regina Thomas

Evangelist Regina Thomas, one of our Talking Book Services patrons, and author of the book “Walking by Faith: Swaddled in His Glory”, was recently interviewed by the TBS director Pamela Davenport.  In this interview Thomas and Davenport discussed the circumstances in which Mrs. Thomas has lost her sight which led the author to start writing. 

One Book Berkeley 2008

Berkeley county residents will share the joy of reading this winter as One Book Berkeley embarks on its inaugural community reading program.  Marley and Me: life and love with the world's worst dog by John Grogan is the title of this year's book. 

A series of programs and events, sponsored by the Friends of Berkeley County Library in conjunction with the Berkeley County Library, are planned for January and February 2008.

Digital CPM reports are now available!

Reports of the Certified Public Manager (CPM) program are now available in electronic format.

Reports from the Certified Public Manager program offered through Budget and Control Board are now being scanned and made available to view in WebLION, the online catalog of the State Library.  The CPM program is an 18-month management development program accredited by the National COM Consortium and has been offered through B&CB since 1996. The program provides training and on the job learning in problem solving, human resource development, and innovative management practices.

Lunch at the State Library

Bring your bag lunch to the State Library on Thursday, December 6 and enjoy an interesting hour with author and history professor, Robert K. Ackerman as he discusses his book, Wade Hampton III.

 

The free program will be held from noon to 1:00 p.m. at the State Library’s Administration Building at 1430 Senate Street in Columbia.  (This is the old Archives building, not the building with the lions in front.)

Columbia Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind of South Carolina Celebrates 60 Years

On September 20, 2007 the Columbia chapter of the National Federation of the Blind of South Carolina celebrated its 60th Anniversary at the Federation Center in Columbia.  The event was well attended and the chapter president Frank Coppel served as the master of ceremony.  M.B. “Red” Shaw an associate member who is also a member of the federation advisory board, reflected on the early years of the federation.

SC Public Library Receives Highest Honor for Extraordinary Community Service

Georgetown County Library is among the five museums and five libraries that have been selected for the 2007 National Medal for Museum and Library Service, the nation's highest honor for the extraordinary public service provided by these institutions, announced Anne-Imelda M. Radice, Director of the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services.
