South Carolina Student Earns National Recognition in Writing Competition

The South Carolina Center for the Book is proud to announce that Jordan Slisher of Westminster, SC has been named a national winner in Letters About Literature.

Letters About Literature is a national competition of the Library of Congress in partnership with Target Stores and the state affiliate Centers for the Book. Students in grades 4 through 12 write a personal letter to an author, living or dead, explaining how that author’s work changed the students’ way of thinking about the world or about themselves.

Winners of the National Library Week Day in the Life of SC Libraries Announced

The South Carolina State Library is happy to announce the winners of the 1st Annual National Library Week Day in the Life of South Carolina Libraries photo contest.  During the days of April 16-18, South Carolina Library Staff members submitted a wide range of photographs of librarians working, meeting, teaching, and doing all that librarians do in a given day.

LIBRIS Conference 2007 to be held on May 18th, 2007

The goal of LIBRIS in conducting this conference is to provide an affordable one-day forum for library personnel.  This forum will allow attendees to share ideas that will better enable them to carry out the vision and mission of their libraries throughout South Carolina.

Founded seven years ago as a staff development day, the conference has since grown into a one-day conference with participation from the sixteen technical colleges, four year colleges, the State library, several private colleges, public libraries and PASCAL.
