Stephanie Gilbert, Metadata Librarian
Stephanie Gilbert is the Metadata Librarian for the Library Collections and Services department at the South Carolina State Library. She is working to create and upload metadata for various State documents. Stephanie attended Anderson University where she majored in History and minored in Psychology. She went on to receive her M.L.I.S. from the University of South Carolina with a concentration in Archives and Preservation and a Museum Management Certificate. During and after graduate school, she has worked with the South Caroliniana Library, McKissick Museum, and Digital Collections with the Hollings Special Collections Library. She has handled a wide range of projects such as rehousing a collection of 1930's-40's clothing, makeup, and accessories from the Jordan Family Collection, processing music scores from the Johnny Mann Commercial Music Collection, and installing and maintaining a variety of museum exhibitions. She previously worked at UofSC digitizing materials and completing metadata for the M. Hayes Mizell Papers and the New Insights in the American Civil Rights Movement: South Carolina Council on Human Relations Records. It is her passion to ensure that objects, artwork, books, archival materials, documents, and more are preserved, digitized, and made accessible for future generations.
