Please join Veterans Affairs and the South Carolina State Library for a free educational webinar on ways you can help spread the word about VA's resources for Veterans who are homeless or at imminent risk of becoming homeless.

What: How You Can Help End Veteran Homelessness in your Community
When: August 21, 2013. 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Where: Online
Cost: Free
How: Register online at statelibrary.sc.libcal.com.

Every day, librarians, government employees, and community affiliates across the country come into contact with individuals who are homeless, but they may not know how to help. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has established an easy way for homeless and at risk Veterans to get connected to services that can help them get back on their feet. A simple call to the National Call Center for Homeless Veterans at 877-4AID-VET (877-424-3828) will connect Veterans to a wide range of services, including health care, employment, education, and housing assistance. The hotline is part of a nationwide VA initiative to end Veteran homelessness by the end of 2015.

How You Can Help End Veteran Homelessness in your Community will focus on the Department of Veteran Affairs' efforts to help reduce Veteran Homelessness. A VA spokesperson will discuss the free resources available to help homeless veterans. This webinar is geared towards libraries of all types, but is open to organizations and other interested parties in helping end the problem of homeless veterans.

This webinar is free and open to all who are interested in transforming libraries by building meaningful library experiences for all. To register, visit the South Carolina State Library's events calendar at statelibrary.sc.libcal.com.
