Dorchester County Library hires new Executive Director

Dorchester County Library has hired a new Executive Director. Robert C. Antill has been selected by the Dorchester County Library Board of Trustees to lead the growing library system effective May 1, 2017. After a successful bond referendum in which the library system will replace its Summerville location and add an additional location in North Charleston in the near future. Mr. Antill comes in at an integral part of growth in a system that has served the residents of Dorchester County with only two branches since the late 1970’s.

Mr. Antill comes to Dorchester County Library with over 28 years of experience in both public and academic library settings. He is a 1992 graduate of the University of Akron in Ohio for his under graduate degree and received his Master’s in Library and Information Science from Kent State University in 2000. He also has experience with capital projects for library expansions. Dorchester County Library Board Chairman, Bill Collins said in a statement: “We are very excited about Mr. Antill joining the team at Dorchester County Library. He brings a lot of knowledge and leadership experience to help move this library system forward.”
