Celebrating Banned Books Week

Join the entire book community and celebrate the freedom to read during Banned Books Week. During September 22-28, 2019, members of the book community will unite to highlight the value of free and open access to information. The movement was originally sparked by a surge in the number of challenges to books in schools, libraries, and bookstores during the early 1980s. This year's theme is "Censorship Leaves Us in the Dark." Help "Keep the Light On" by checking out the top 11 most challenged books of 2018.
