Library 2.0 tools are in use throughout the SC State Library. We have blogs for our various programs, we IM (instant message), we interact through social networks, and we share photos and videos.

Blogs

Beyond the Lions is a reference blog by the Information Services staff of the South Carolina State Library. Its primary audience is South Carolina state employees.  South Carolina librarians might also find these resources useful.

IT Matters @ SCSL features a running commentary on technology implementations at the SC State Library, as well as meditations on technology in libraries in general.

SC State Library Development Services is now sharing information for and about libraries in South Carolina in our new blog LibraryTrax. We'll share great library programs, highlight what we learn from leaders in the field, and hopefully inspire conversations about the future of libraries.

Want it all in one feed? Our SuprGlu site features feeds from nearly all of our social networks: the blogs, newsroom, del.ico.us, etc.

Social Networks

Check us out on Facebook. Become friends with SouthCarolina StateLibrary, and write on our wall.

Can't come for a visit? You can still get a visual virtual feel for the SC State Library through our Flickr. Let's make Contact!

  • IM Us!

Have an AIM or Yahoo account? So do we. Add us to your buddy list: scslreference. Many of our staff also have IM accounts, and we're more than happy to chat with you for a few. If IM is not your game, but you'd still like to ask us a question, look for the Ask A Librarian link on our homepage. No software and no downloads required.

Visit our space on MySpace. Be sure to add us to your friends!

Guess you could say we're kind of ubiquitious. Or at least, adventurous. South Carolina has a small but growing presence in Second Life, and the State Library is pleased to have a virtual library there. Drop in and say hello.

Subscribe to our channel, and let's share videos.
