ILEAD USA in SC - June Live Session Update

The South Carolina ILEAD USA second live session (held June 22-25, 2015) was more focused and slightly less intense than the March session. The teams have shown tremendous growth. MaKit Work! has secured a partnership with the South Carolina State Library to circulate their maker tech kit after they have completed building it. The EdTech Librarians have changed their name to team Find Your Hat and have begun working with a developer to design their review website. Both teams have completed their project grants and received their funds, and are now working diligently to complete their projects.

The June session was built around a “poster session” in which all of the national cohorts participate. Because ILEAD USA SC is small, it is summer so the University is not at capacity, and the national session dates conflicted somewhat with the start of ALA, the cohort was forced to find a creative solution in order to make the poster session viable. On Wednesday, June 24, South Carolina hosted its first Summit on Emerging Technology, a half-day training which incorporated a panel of experts and enthusiasts in the field of emerging technology, presentations about the ILEAD USA SC projects from the teams, and hands-on time for participants to explore and create with emerging technology. 25 people from a wide range of librarianship attended the event, which garnered incredibly positive feedback.
