Miss USA Morgan Romano will help the South Carolina State University drum line lead a parade of students and teachers from the South Carolina State Library to the State House for the Read-In celebration on April 20, 2023. Romano has a degree in chemical engineering from the University of South Carolina. She promotes STEM education with her "Outside the Box" program, which provides science kits to classrooms and libraries. 

Spring into action and pursue the grant you hope to obtain for your non-profit organization. We kick off our spring series of grants workshops with the ever-popular “Create a Winning Proposal” session on March 2. Get motivated by learning the ins and outs of applying for grants, the key components to include, and what funders want to know about your project. The session also covers what to do after winning a grant.

Whether long-standing or relatively new, every institution has traditions that evolve from daily culture. How the institution preserves and maintains the traditions weaves a tapestry that, in time, becomes the institution's history. Winthrop University's "Garnet and Gold: Traditions and Treasures 2022" welcomes the newest Eagles to the nest by introducing them to the University's time-honored traditions.

Imagine opening a seventy-year-old time capsule and finding contents that tell the history of outdoor life in our state. This discovery is possible thanks to our partnership with South Carolina Wildlife magazine, a South Carolina Department of Natural Resources publication. The magazine staff collaborated with our librarians to digitize issues dating back to South Carolina Wildlife's inception in 1954. Issues through 1993 are available via the South Carolina Digital Library.
