The South Carolina State Library presented a $450,000 check to Williamsburg County Library to build library additions in Kingstree and Hemingway.

The money, presented January 16, was included in the Genral Assembly's appropriations for FY 05-06. Sen. Yancy McGill and Representatives Ken Kennedy, Carl Anderson and the late Alex Harvin worked to get this money for the Williamsburg County Library. Library Director Norris Wooten and project architect Danny Shelley were on hand to discuss the building projects which are scheduled to begin this spring.

Patti Butcher, SC State Library director, made the presentations along with the Williamsburg County legislative delegation. Also attending were Library Board President David Grossman, Friends representative for both libraries, city and county council members and library staff.
