As tax season comes to an end, Speaker of the South Carolina House of Representatives, Representative Jay Lucas, and Chairman of the House Legislative Oversight Committee, Representative Weston Newton, in conjunction with the South Carolina State Library, are pleased to announce the South Carolina House Legislative Oversight Committee’s webinar, “More Accountability for Your Tax Dollars in State Agencies,” on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. This inaugural webinar is free and the Committee invites agency personnel and the public to attend.
This time of year individuals and businesses throughout the state pay hard earned money to state taxes. These taxes go to many uses throughout state agencies. During this webinar you will learn how the newly formed House Legislative Oversight Committee is helping agencies find opportunities to more efficiently use these taxes and increase accountability to the public.
The presentation will start with Speaker Lucas discussing legislative oversight and expectations for the new Committee. Chairman Newton will then talk about how the public can have their voice heard and take part in the House Legislative Oversight process; walk through how the Committee will perform the oversight studies; and where the Committee currently is in the process. When the presentation concludes, participants will have an opportunity to ask Chairman Newton questions.
