National Award for Museum and Library Service

Doesn’t your State have great libraries?  Wouldn’t you like to have a library recognized for outstanding service to their communities?   The deadline for applications for the National Award for Museum and Library Service, given by the Institute of Museum and Library Services, is fast approaching.  It’s February 15.

The application form is available at http://www.imls.gov/about/awards.shtm. You can see more information about previous winners and the award ceremony that took place at the White House at the imls web site www.imls.gov. Who knows, maybe next fall you’ll be invited to Washington for the award ceremony! Join us at the South Carolina Center for the Book for an author talk featuring Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation , as she returns to the South Carolina State Library in Columbia, SC, in celebration of Black Music Month and her children's books. Queen Quet will present from her children's books and engage everyone in an interactive Gullah/Geechee presentation. A book signing will follow.
