Chester County Library Board Appoints New Director

After a deliberative search process including review of over 13 applicants, the Board of Directors of the Chester County Library is excited to announce the selection of a new Library Director.

Luanne James comes to Chester County from Stallings, NC and formerly Brownsville, TX where she was the Director for the Brownsville County Public Library system. Ms. James has her Masters in Library Science from the University of North Texas and is near completion of her PhD. She comes to the position with extensive experience in public library work, much of it at the director or regional director level.

Ms. James is enthusiastic about the opportunity in Chester County and brings a wealth of experience that the Board believes is essential to moving the Library forward. "I feel very fortunate and blessed to be part of such a wonderful community. I am really looking forward to working with everyone and promise to serve our patrons to the best of my ability" said Ms. James.

The Library has been without a full time Director since May of 2011. "The Board is very grateful to the staff and interim Director, Tally Johnson, for stepping up and working together. Their hard work has fostered continued excellence and ensured the quality of library services was befitting a level our community deserves," said Chris Winters, Board Chair. "After an exhaustive search through a pool of very talented candidates, the Board is excited to welcome Ms. James and look to continuous improvement to the library services across the county."
