Center Announces 2015-2016 Fall/Winter Author Talks

The South Carolina State Library’s Center for the Book is pleased to announce its upcoming author line up for the Speaker @ the Center series.  

Wednesday, September 23, 2015 - Bernie Schein, Famous All Over Town | Story River Books, USC Press. A comically candid novel of the small-town south, rampant with revelations from bedrooms, courtrooms, and all points in between.

Wednesday, October 14, 2015 - S. Jane Gari, Losing the Dollhouse | TouchPoint Press. Losing the Dollhouse offers a slice of dysfunctional Americana complete with divorce, step-families, eating disorders, mental illness and the search for true love.

Wednesday, November 18, 2015 - Ellen Malphrus, Untying the Moon | Story River Books, USC Press.  A road trip in a '67 Skylark convertible through blood and bone places in search of the redemptive possibilities of love and home.

Wednesday, December 9, 2015 - Angela Williams, Hush Now, Baby | Texas Review Press. Hush Now, Baby is the story of how a little white girl climbed out of an uneasy childhood in the segregated South…on the backbone of a black woman who loved her unabashedly.

Wednesday, January 20, 2015 - Elizabeth Cassidy West and Katharine Thompson, On the Horseshoe: A Guide to the Historic Campus of the University of South Carolina | USC Press. The comprehensive history of the original campus structures and the people who lived and worked there.

Books will be available for purchase and signing. All programs will take place from noon to 1:00 p.m. at the South Carolina State Library located at 1500 Senate St., Columbia. Speaker @ the Center is FREE and open to the public.

The South Carolina Center for the Book is an affiliate of the Library of Congress Center for the Book and is a housed at the South Carolina State Library.
