On September 20, 2007 the Columbia chapter of the National Federation of the Blind of South Carolina celebrated its 60th Anniversary at the Federation Center in Columbia.  The event was well attended and the chapter president Frank Coppel served as the master of ceremony.  M.B. “Red” Shaw an associate member who is also a member of the federation advisory board, reflected on the early years of the federation.

Dr. Donald C. Capps, President Emeritus gave his views on the Fifty-four annual barbecue chicken fundraisers that has become an annual tradition for the federation.

There was recognition of the past chapter presidents by David Houck and a special presentation to Dr. Capps by Frank Coppel.

The keynote speaker for the event was Parnell Diggs, President of The National Federation of the Blind of South Carolina.

The event ended with a video tribute and remarks by Loretta Eubanks, a chapter member to a longtime friend of the federation, John Fling.

We extend our congratulations to the Columbia chapter of the National Federation of the Blind of South Carolina.
