SchoolRooms Update PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 20 December 2007

Upgrade Complete! The SchoolRooms upgrade to the latest version of the software is now complete. Our site is up and available at http://scsl.schoolrooms.net. This new version will allow us to tie in the library catalogs for each pilot library's page. Those catalog IPs and Port #s have been submitted and will be configured in the next couple of weeks.

Online Registration

We have also tested the online registration feature and it appears to be working. There is a link under the login box that says New User? Click Here. Clicking on this link will take you to our registration page. We are still working on the look and feel of this page. Users will get an autogenerated ID as they are registering. They will also get it send to their email account. Access to the resources is automatic. The color of that link will also be changing to  make it stand out more. We still have several cosmetic changes to make in the product.

Knowitall Resources

We've had a few meetings with folks from Knowitall and we are beginning to add their resources to SchoolRooms. Amanda Stone is working on this and has done a fantastic job. If you go to the Art & Theater Room under Elemenatry, you'll see a custom module in the middle of the page pointing to Artopia. This is just one way we can integrate South Carolina resources into SchoolRooms. We will continue to work on this.

Content Advisory

We will start work with a content advisory board in January to review all existing content and to determine where we have gaps. We also want to work with this board on creating a South Carolina Room. We have several volunteers but can always use more. Please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it if you would like to be involved.

Go Live for Pilots

We would like to start working with our pilot sites in January, with hopes of having all 10 sites live by the end of February. This will include finding the best method for working with the schools in those areas as well as the development of training/marketing resources. We are still on track for a Fall 2008 statewide launch.

If you have any further questions about the status of this project, please email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it and continue to check back to this page for more updates.
