Library Catalogs Being Configured

Now that the upgrade is complete, library catalogs for the pilot libraries are being configured. Currently working are ABBE, Florence, Lexington, Marion, Orangeburg and Sumter. If you go to http://scsl.schoolrooms.net and select one of these libraries, you can do a search that will result in DISCUS hits, library catalog results and best of web links. Additional configuration is being done to ensure that the other pilot catalogs will be accessible very soon.

Online Registration Fully Functional

Online registration is fully functional. It has been tested in house and remotely. Users can now sign up for a SchoolRooms ID that will grant access immediately. See the New User? Link under the login box. Configuration continues on these pages so you may seen changes in format.

SchoolRooms Intern

Suzanne Shurtz will be starting an internship with the State Library next week. Suzanne is currently enrolled in the USC School of Library & Information Science. She will be assisting us with training, marketing and content advisory duties.

Content Advisory Board

Our Content Advisory Board is being formed and will meet for the first time the week of January 28th. This Board will review the existing content to ensure that it’s appropriate and comprehensive. If you are interested in serving on this board or have a staff member who would like to, please let me know.

Marketing Messages

We are putting together marketing messages for all audiences: Teachers, School Librarians, Public Librarians, Parents and Students. We will have those out to you shortly so you can start telling people more about SchoolRooms.

Integration of DISCUS Databases

We continue to integrate and test DISCUS databases and are working with Serials Solutions on several issues to make sure the searching is at its best. The new DISCUS databases will be configured and integrated at the end of the month.

Go Live for Pilot Sites

Our plan is to go live with some of our pilots starting at the end of January but we will do some usability and stress testing prior to this, both in house and from your sites. So, be looking for a survey soon that will guide you in testing SchoolRooms from your library. Pilot sites include ABBE Regional Library System, AHJ Regional Library System, Clarendon County Library, Florence County Library, Kershaw County Library, Lexington County Public Library, Marion County Public Library, Orangeburg County Library, Richland County Public Library and Sumter County Library.
